Who I work with

Hi, I’m Claire.

I help students find their voice in the admissions process. I work with rising juniors and seniors who feel stuck, unsure where to begin, or like they don’t have something worth writing about. Together, we find authentic narratives that resonate with the schools they’re excited about. My students have written about topics from swimming to lizards and have gone on to attend schools including Stanford, Duke, and Dartmouth.

My Teaching Background

Teaching has been a constant in my career. I’ve been in the education world since 2017, when I started volunteering with the Children’s Literacy Center in Colorado Springs. I’ve since worked in elementary schools, arts non-profits, ski schools, and a small association in Rabat, Morocco, where I taught English in 2023.

After graduating from Princeton in 2024, I was selected for the Annenberg teaching fellowship at Eton College, which gives one American postgraduate student the opportunity to work as an Eton Master, or teacher. At Eton, I developed and taught curriculum in the History and History of Art departments. I taught topics ranging from the role of jazz in the civil rights movement to Picasso’s Guernica and how it shapes our idea of what it means to be at war.

A major part of my role at Eton was centered around one-on-one, in-depth mentorship. I was responsible for advising a tutorial group of about five boys, overseeing their social and academic well-being, and working in Villiers, a boarding house. I mentored a cohort of applicants to U.S. universities and launched a writing clinic for students who were struggling with History essays. Many of those students moved from lower marks into the top grade bands on their GCSEs, and several of my mentees earned admission to selective U.S. universities.

Athletics and Coaching

I offer athletics mentorship because it’s become a major facet of the college experience and has the potential to give students the edge they need to stand out in the admissions process. Athletics are a central thread in my life and in my coaching, and provided me with the structure, motivation, and kinship that characterized my experience at Princeton.

I was recruited to row at Princeton after a career as a swimmer, and there I was a CRCA Scholar-Athlete, a First Team All-Ivy rower, and part of three NCAA podium finishes, marking the best run in the program’s history. I received the Carol Brown Award for the graduating rower who most embodies “dedication in the pursuit of excellence.” After graduating, I coached with Eton’s rowing program and led their third eight to a top-four national finish. Sports have grounded me and shaped how I think about discipline, resilience, and growth, and they influence how I support students as they navigate both academics and recruiting.

Philosophy

The college admissions process is an opportunity for students to learn how to convey the skills and attributes they bring to a school and, eventually, to a career. The personal statement is where this happens. Your story is a lens for readers to understand your character and fit at a college or university. My strength is understanding my clients' unique gifts, quirks, and motivations and helping them translate those qualities into writing skills that serve them in their next chapter of life. I see advising and mentorship as more than a one-off transaction, and the experience I provide reflects this.
